A Northeast Range teacher traveled by dogsled 24 miles to school recently.
Amos Kolodji and Jake Hway started mushing at 4:30 a.m. from his home on White Iron Lake near Ely and traveled over the lakes and through the woods to Babbitt, where he teaches math at Northeast Range school.
The plan was to switch to having the dogs pull them on scooters the last 2.5 miles down a gravel road and through town, but the new snow gave them just enough glide to make it all the way to school on the sled!
