About 25 of the fourth and fifth grade students have been spending their after school time rehearsing the musical “Moana Jr.” They will be performing for the public at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12. Entry will be by donations at the door to help continue this tradition into the future.
The Ely Weavers and Fiber Artists Group meets on Monday, May 12 at the Grand Ely at 11:30 a.m. If you have similar interests, please attend.
The computer science teachers and students are hosting a computer science family night on Tuesday, May 13 at 6 p.m. in the Media Center. There will be demonstrations of the apps, LEGO robots, and Micro:bit projects that students have worked on. The Ely Robotics team will also be there to show off their robot which won Rookie of the Year in Duluth this year. The event is free and open to all.
The May Ely for Ely gathering will be on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 a.m. at the Community Hub (760 Miners Drive) The topice will be “Board Not Bored: Demystifying the Nonprofit Board Experience” with Patti Banks, CEO of Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital. This program is free and open to all with coffee and continental breakfast while supplies last. Attendees will be on their way to their next commitment by 8:45 a.m.
The Ely Climate Group and Health Professionals for a Healthy Climate will meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at the Sunset Room at the Grand Ely Lodge. This will be a discussion of the health effects of heat and wildfire smoke with community members and local health care workers. The program will also be available by zoom. Living with Cancer Group will meet on Wednesday, May 14, at 6 p.m.. at the Senior Citizen Building. They will be getting information on a special routine to remain active. The next Braver Angels Ely Alliance Gathering will be Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center and with the question “How is the Federal Government affecting your life in Ely?”
Ely Empower will hold its annual garage sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 17 from 8 a.m. until sold out at 144 E. White Street. All proceeds go to Ely senior girls scholarships. Furniture, camping and sporting goods, kitchen and housewares, linens, interior decor, crafts, puzzles and games, pet items, tools, jewelry, garden items, small electronics, and lots more. Bake table and free coffee.
Ely Memorial High School May music concert is Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. The Washington Elementary spring music program is Thursday, May 22 at 1:15 p.m.
Cribbage is being played at the Zenith Apartments at 965 E. Camp St in Ely on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Join in, have fun. Bring your own snacks.
