Rock the Park updates band line-up

The Ely Events Group announced an update to the music line-up at Rock the Park on Saturday, July 5.

Sidestreet Detour, a three-piece band out of Duluth, will be performing after Ranger Things and before The Reckoning.

After forming in late 2022, Sidestreet Detour has played throughout northeast Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin, and the Twin Cities area, logging over 100 performances.

“We released our first self-titled album: Sidestreet Detour, this past July, which can be found on all streaming platforms, as well as old-school CDs,” said band member Barton Porter.

The band plays classic covers of Neil Young, Van Morrison, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Elvis and more.

“We have found our original music to be well received, filling the dance floor on a consistent basis,” said Porter.

Rock the Park starts in Whiteside Park at 4 p.m. with the popular Ranger Things band.

Sidestreet Detour, will be up next with The Reckoning finishing out the night.

There will be a beer tent provided by the Ely Fire Department and food trucks as well.

The family fun event includes YoungLife staffing the kids fun area featuring numerous bouncy play activities.

Also returning will be the Zup’s sawdust pile for all ages and a scavenger hunt plus free watermelon.

Ely Events Groups reminds local area businesses and organizations that are interested in being a sponsor to contact chair Casey Velcheff right away.
