Minnesota Public Radio announced that Wood N’ Wind is coming to Memorial High School in Ely, Minnesota, on May 27, as part of the Class Notes Concert program. The high school concerts and residency will be followed by an evening community concert at the Vermilion Fine Arts Theater at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested at https://www.mprevents.org/
On Tuesday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., summer reading begins. This will be the first day for anyone to sign up for the Ely Public Library’s summer reading programs based on age. Adults and senior high school students (those going into grades 10-12) will have a new Monopoly based program this year. Middle school students (going into grades six to nine) will also play a separate Monopoly based programs. Kids going into elementary grades (entering fifth grade and younger) and preschoolers will have a program based on reading regularly (without tracking time). Middle school and younger programs will end on Friday, Aug. 15. The adult program will wrap up in mid September. Stop by the library for more details. Join Sisu Heritage to celebrate the Finnish tradition of sauna on National Sauna Day, Saturday, June 7. The free, family-friendly event is outdoors, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nelimark Homestead and Museum on Hwy. 21 in Embarrass.

Northwoods Partners Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Ely Area Community Hub, 760 E. Miners Drive.

The Ely Senior Bridge League has a weekly session of bridge starting at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ely Senior Center, front room. Reservations are recommended. Call Terry Cooper at 651-230-2117 for more information.

Medical care and fluoride treatments are held on Thursdays at 111 South 4th Ave. E., presented by Ely Community Health Center. Available from 5:30-7 p.m. at no charge. Wednesday Wellness Clinics are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. there is a group that helps take care of the flower gardens at Whiteside Park. Come meet fellow gardeners and exchange plants.
