Babbitt grants set to be approved by IRRRB

The City of Babbitt is set to received a grant of $60,000 for water and sewer line extensions to The Hideaway.

“The city is currently annexing land beyond its city limits. The new infrastructure could serve additional residential properties as the city boundaries expand. The project will provide new tax revenue for the city and support the sustainability of the existing business.”

The total project budget is listed at $120,000 with the city and the Hideaway each paying $30,000 and the IRRRB providing matching funds of $60,000.

Babbitt will also get approval for Bond Proceeds of $1.5 million for renovations to the ice arena. These funds were approved in last year’s tax bill along with other projects totaling $19.1 million and the final approval should be approved at Thursday’s meeting.

Other funding set to be approved included $1.2 million in matching monies for the Prospector ATV Club. The funds will be used to connect Tower to Pfeiffer Lake Campground including trail connections to the Quad Cities and Voyageur Country ATV clubs. A planned connection to the Y Store and County Hwy. 77 is also in the $2.4 million project plans.
