Awaken your purpose. Ever get a sense that there is something more to life? Find our more on Saturday, June 21 at The Hub commons room, 706 Miners Drive from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free will donation event. 

The historic Toimi School will be hosting their annual midsummer celebration on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Hutter Bunch Band will be performing.  A light lunch will be provided at a minimal charge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to review the history of the school and the Finnish settlement of the Toimi area. The school is located at the intersection of Lake County 151 (Murphy Lake Rd) and Lake County Highway 15 (Forest Highway 11).

At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. – Move and Groove for Preschoolers – for preschoolers with an adult. Get some of those wiggles out to the dance beat as Jessie leads kids in simple dances and stretches.  This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

 At the Ely Public Library on Wednesday, June 25 at 3:30 p.m. – Plants, Pants, and Papermaking with Grace Klein. Join local designer and artist Grace Klein for a presentation and discussion about the connection between plant based clothing design and paper making as a fabric recycling solution and fiber arts technique. Come to learn about the process of garment design and paper making through Grace’s original artwork. This activity is made possible by a grant from Ely’s Donald G. Gardner Humanities Trust. 

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m. – Get Crafty: Kindness Rocks. Get ready to craft with Tricia and make some kindness rocks. The library will supply all of the supplies for you to help decorate the library’s kindness garden. Register in advance. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.   

The dedication of the voyageurs sculpture and Bill Mason Canoe Sculpture will be held on July 1 at 2 p.m. at Whiteside Park.

The Ely Watercross will celebrate its 20th year Aug. 8-10 at the Longbranch in Winton. The event will feature snowmobiles racing on Fall Lake and a concert Saturday night with Ransom and Pop Rocks. 

Cribbage is being played at the Zenith Apartments at 965 E. Camp St in Ely on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Join in, have fun. Bring your own snacks. 

Northwoods Partners Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Ely Area Community Hub, 760 E. Miners Drive. 

New closed AA meeting; primary purpose men’s group. Will be held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 226 E. Harvey St. 

The Ely Senior Bridge League has a weekly session of bridge starting at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ely Senior Center, front room. Reservations are recommended. Call Terry Cooper at 651-230-2117 for more information. 

At the Ely Senior Center: Smear Mondays, 6 p.m.; Bridge on Wednesdays at noon; Bingo at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.  Ping Pong on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Check the calendar at elyseniorcenter.com for more activities or to reserve a spot for your activity.

Medical care and fluoride treatments are held on Thursdays at 111 South 4th Ave. E., presented by Ely Community Health Center. Available from 5:30-7 p.m. at no charge. Wednesday Wellness Clinics are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The community is encouraged to schedule their meetings and events at the Ely Senior Citizen Center by calling Theresa Jamnick at 365-4367 or Virginia Ivancich at 365-4718.

Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. there is a group that helps take care of the flower gardens at Whiteside Park. Come meet fellow gardeners and exchange plants.
