Stay active and Independent for Life (S.A.I.L.) session will resume July 15. These sessions will be every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Please note the time change. There will be 24 sessions over 12 weeks, ending Oct. 2, in the Babbitt Municipal Building (Emanuelson) gym.
Hay Days at the Nelimark Museum, across from Timber Hall, on Hwy. 21 and 4839 Salo Rd. Embarrass July 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore the early days and lost arts of the pioneer settlers of Embarrass. Take a walking tour of the museum grounds, Visit the petting zoo with local animals. Craft and homemaking demonstrations. There will be a food truck, free coffee and live music.
The Braver Angels Ely Alliance invites the public to the second annual July social gathering at Samz’ Place (1225 Winton Rd) on Wednesday, July 23 from 5-7 p.m. There will be free beer or soft drinks, lawn games, prizes and respectful conversation with new and old friends and neighbors.
Sisu Heritage will host the Mattson Family Singers in concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5103 Hwy 21 in Embarrass. These six siblings grew up in Embarrass and will share stories about that experience, along with the old-time music they learned while growing up. Admission is $10, $8 for Sisu members and children under 12 are free.
Vacation Bible School at Babbitt Assembly of God Church will be Monday, Aug. 4 thru Friday, Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon each day. This year’s theme “True North: Trusting Jesus in a wild world.” Take kids ages 4 to 12 on the ultimate Alaskan adventure. As kids trek the tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in the wild world today. While playing games at Glacier Games, tasting Tundra treats and discovering Wild Bible Adventures, kids will personalize their faith in our trust worthy God. The 10th annual Ride, Raffle ‘N Roll for ALS will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, starting at the Timber Hall Event Center in Embarrass. Pancake breakfast available for purchase and open to the public 8-10 a.m. Ride registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Never Surrender Inc. A firearms safety field day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 in Babbitt. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the class will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students must be 11 years old by the date of the class and have completed the online hunter safety course.
