The 10th Annual Ride, Raffle ‘N Roll for ALS will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, starting at the Timber Hall Event Center in Embarrass.
Teresa Erickson, with her sons Travis and Ethan and a handful of friends and family, started the motorcycle ride in 2016 to raise money for Never Surrender Inc. Her husband Glenn had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. They wanted to give back to the organization that had provided so much assistance to their family.
Community support for the ride was overwhelming with over 80 bikes participating that first year. They lost Glenn to ALS two months after that inaugural ride, but they wanted to continue to raise money to help others fighting the disease so Ride, Raffle ‘N Roll for ALS became an annual event. Sadly, they lost Teresa just a couple weeks after the third annual ride.
Travis and Ethan and a dedicated committee of family and friends of Glenn and Teresa took over the reins and have grown the event to over 150 participants.
Riders travel about 120 miles through the beautiful northwoods of the Iron Range with several brief stops at local bars.
A light lunch is included midday, with dinner and prizes at the final destination. Registration also includes a commemorative gift.
Pancake breakfast is available for purchase and open to the public 8-10 a.m. Ride registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m.
Although it is primarily a motorcycle ride, participants are welcome to follow in other vehicles.
All proceeds benefit Never Surrender Inc through the 2026 Black Woods Blizzard Tour.
