From the Northeast Range Principal

It’s the time of year when we welcome back our teachers and students to Northeast Range for the 25-26 school year. I would also like to welcome new students to our school. Northeast Range has a supportive environment with a top-notch staff where all kids can thrive.

First off, we are excited to begin the four day week for the 25-26 school. We have lengthened our days a little, with our classes now running from 8:15 to 3:36. Wednesdays, which used to be early-release, are now a regular length day. On weeks that have a Monday holiday, such as Labor Day, we will have school on Fridays. NER is offering school-age daycare on Fridays for students PreK-6th grade. Check out the school website for more info at northeastrangeschool. net.

We are continuing our cell phone policy this year, with no phones allowed during the school day for K-6, and limited use for 7-12. Grades 7-12 are allowed to use their personal devices before school, at lunch, and after school only. Thankfully this has led to a marked reduction in overall classroom distractions and improved our learning environment, which are the goals for the policy.

Don’t forget to sign up for school sports!

Volleyball is already in full swing at NER, and our NER/Ely teams of football and girls swimming are also beginning their seasons.

Activities are a great outlet for our students, along with the excellent arts programs offered at NER in visual arts, speech, theatre, and band. If STEM is your jam, then Robotics may also be a great place for you! We encourage our students to get involved!

New staff for the school year include Mr.

Tim Kulik, teaching high school special education. Teaching middle school special education and elementary math is Mr. Scout Aiken. Last but not least, we have a new site one secretary, Mrs. Morgan Zollinger. We welcome them to our excellent team. More to come on this in later articles!

What am I looking most forward to? Definitely seeing our students back in the building. School means a lot of things to a lot of people, but I thrive on having a structure in place, as do many of our kids, and look forward to the academic and social opportunities that our students receive in our setting.

Our environment is large enough to offer great school opportunities, and small enough to welcome and value the unique characteristics that our kids have. Everyone can find success at Northeast Range!
