New AA Big Book meeting, to begin at noon, on Sept. 25 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ely, 231 East Chapman Street, Room 4 in the basement.

The Harvest Moon Vendors Market will be held Sept. 5-6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ely Community Center, 27 S. 1st Ave. E. with free off-street parking.

The Ely Weavers and Fiber Arts Group meets on Monday, Sept. 8 at the Grand Ely at 11:30 a.m. All interested are welcome.

At the Ely Public Library on Monday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. it will be the Friends of the Library book club. The title for discussion this month is The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods. You do not need to be a member of Friends of the Library to attend.

At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. the Adult Summer Reading Ending Party will be held for adults in this year’s summer reading program. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

A Campus and Community Connection Day will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m,, held on the Vermilion Campus. This event will help students and the local community connect. During the event donations are welcomed for student basic needs like twin and twin XL bedding, new pillows, laundry soap/dryer sheets, dish soap/ dish cloths/towels, food pantry items, pots and fry pans.

For the first time ever, a Community Connect event will be held in Ely - on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ely Area Community Hub, 760 Miners Drive East. Community Connect is an event designed as a one-stopshop, providing a variety of free services for people who are struggling economically, to help connect them with resources available from agencies and non-profits in the community.

At the Ely Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. the event will be Get Crafty: Art Roulette. Everyone will walk out with a unique, community created piece of art. Every five minutes you’ll pass the canvas to the person next to you, until everyone has a chance, ending with your original canvas. What will it look like at the end? Pre-registration is required to ensure that we have enough supplies for all attendees. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m. the program will be Estate Planning with attorney Kelly Klun on key factors to drafting and personalizing wills and trusts, preparing probate documents, creating documents for long term health care, drafting durable power of attorney, and preparing health care directives. They will also discuss tips and strategies to minimize taxes and allow your loved one receive your gifts, stress free. This program is in cooperation with the Klun Law Firm.

The Lake Vermilion Cultural Center will host The Sectionals at St. Mary’s Hall in Tower on Sept. 11 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Sectionals is a talented Iron Range octet of various ages and backgrounds. They enjoy the flexibility of performing in a wide array of venues across the range from Hoyt Lakes to Ely and across the state. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
