The Northeast Range girls volleyball season got underway with a home match against Mt. Iron-Buhl. The Rangers took home a win, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-6.

Middle hitter Peyson Roseth had 13 digs and three kills, Chloe Janeksela had 16 digs, Kaydence Hancock had 10 digs and three kills, Lilli Fonseca had seven digs and two ace serves, Ezra Chamberlin had 100% serving, six digs and two kills and Jayden Gorecki had 100% serving.

“We have four players returning to our varsity team from last year, sophomore Peyson Roseth, senior Ezra Chamberlin, Junior Chloe Janeksela and Kaydence Hancock,” said head coach Misty Roseth. “We have senior Dani Kilic and Lilli Fonseca who are back to play and Jayden Gorecki and Miranda Mackai our eighth graders that are helping out the varsity this year with four more players helping the varsity out.

“We are excited to start the season and find our strengths and opportunities. We are working through building a team as we were unable to have a JV last year due to numbers and the new rules. The kids have a great attitude and we are just so happy that we had 22 kids from 7-12 that showed up to play this year. We’re excited for the season, we got off to a slower start than the rest.”

Northeast Range hosted Silver Bay on Tuesday. The Mariners picked up a 25-15, 25-20, 25-12 victory.

Roseth had seven kills and had 100% serves, Hancock had eight digs, Chamberlin had three kills, eight digs and four ace serves and setter Janeksela had 14 set assists.

“Weplayedasateammuchbetter tonight. We are scrappy, and don’t give up on a ball, but need to clean up some other parts of the game. With the young inexperienced team, I’m very proud of the progress from last week to tonight!,” said coach Roseth.

Northeast Range also competed at the Greenway tournament last weekend.
