UPDATE: At 6:29 p.m. the missing party has been located by search crews uninjured and was being returned to family.
On Sept. 14th, at 2:20 p.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a wife, reporting that her husband, who is suffering from dementia, had left their residence at approximately 1:30 p.m. and had not returned. The residence is on the Rivers Road which is just south of Tower.
The missing party has been identified as 76-year-old Timothy Kotzian. Kotzian walked away from his house by walking on trails on his property. The St. Louis County Rescue Squad was called out to coordinate the ongoing search efforts for Kotzian. Kotzian was last seen by hunters on the Prospector ATV Trail around 2 p.m. The Prospector Trail is a multi-use trail in the area that connects to other ATV/snowmobile/hiking trails in the area.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone who has seen Kotzian to call into the Dispatch center, 218-625-3581 or 911.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Nett Lake Police Department, Minnesota DNR Conservation Officers and the Minnesota State Patrol.
