At its annual membership meeting, the Babbitt Golf Association awarded Joan Youngman a life membership to recognize her contributions to the golf course.
Joan has served on the board of directors for 18 years, and has been the treasurer since 2011. She was instrumental in securing approximately $100,000 in grants that was used to drill two new wells and rebuild the pump house that was severely damaged by flooding. Joanie also did a lot of work around the course to improve the aesthetics. She is also very active in the couples golf and writes newspaper articles to further interest in couples golf.
Joan is the first woman to be honored with a life membership, and the tenth BGA member to be so recognized. Previous life members include: Dr. Donald Haase, Ed Furness, Ernie Pinola, Bucky Backman, Merle Rauvola, Sulo Nuorala, Walt Vojacek, Merle Vandervest and Jim Lassi.
