The Vermilion Ironhawks recorded two victories Tuesday in fall baseball scrimmage action at International Falls.

In the opening game, sophomore pitcher Jo Jo Taverna of Bloomington picked up the win, working two shutout innings and notching two strikeouts.
Starter Brandon Rucka, a freshman from East Bernard, Tex., went the first three innings and struck out three while giving up one earned run.
Solid in relief was former Ely Legion pitcher Louie Panichi, who struck out the side in the sixth inning.

Panichi stoked the offense with two hits, two runs scored and a run batted in, while Texas freshman Bailey Garrett also had two hits.
Eli Hazuga, a sophomore from Stanley-Boyd, WI, had a double and two runs scored while both Taverna and Jake Lehman had run-scoring hits.
Vermilion is at Mesabi Wednesday and hosts its annual alumni game on Saturday, Sept. 27, starting at 12:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field.
