The U.S. Forest Service plans on starting fall prescribed fire operations with pile burning on the Kawishiwi, LaCroix, and Laurentian districts through December.
Upcoming locations-Cool Crab, Crab Creek, & W Twin Point near Burntside Lk, Ely.
If piles are close to the roads, signs will be posted for awareness. When driving, slow down and turn on headlights when encountered smoke on the road and watch for firefighters. Residents may experience smoke during the prescribed burns.
