Bystanders pulled a driver from a burning car at an accident on the Echo Trail near Lindbeck Road on Oct. 3.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred at around 2:49 p.m.
"Bystanders reported hearing a crash and witnesses seeing a vehicle nearly run another off the roadway and careened into the ditch striking some ledge rock before going airborne and rolling over. The vehicle subsequently caught fire and with quick thinking and action by the bystanders the victim was safely removed from the vehicle before it became fulling involved by fire," a press release stated.
The victim was treated for a head injury and was transported to the Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital and later airlifted to a Duluth hospital. Extent of the injuries are unknown at this time. The victim was the lone occupant of the vehicle. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
