Lake County is developing plans for a rehabilitation project on Bridge 38535 on New Tomahawk Road (County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 34), scheduled for the 2026 construction season.
New Tomahawk Road (CSAH 34) will be closed to traffic at the Stony River to accommodate the project, which will include replacement of the bridge deck and railings.
A detour will be posted utilizing MN Highway 1 and St. Louis County CSAH 21 / CSAH 120 between Babbitt and the Ely Municipal Airport. The road closure is expected to last eight to 10 weeks sometime between June and October of 2026.
Lake County is also developing plans for a pavement resurfacing project on County State Aid Highway 2 (CSAH 2), scheduled for the 2026 construction season.
Resurfacing work will occur between Reeves Road (UT 42) and Wales Road (CSAH 14). CSAH 2 will remain open to all traffic during construction; travel delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected during active construction or daylight hours.
Driveway access will remain open, except when impacted by adjacent paving or pavement removals; access restrictions are anticipated to last less than an hour each occurrence and occur a maximum of four to six days.
