The Fall Lake board met on Wednesday and discussed a variety of issues.
At last month’s Fall Lake Township meeting, MSA engineer Jeff Goetzman spoke about the 2025 road improvement program grant application process with applications due by Dec. 12. Goetzman called in to the meeting with an update on Sunset Road. He said he has been working with Lake County Highway Engineer Jason DiPiazza to get all the documents completed.
As for the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) grant application for work on the Garden Lake Road, Goetzman said the resolution came up short of contents, and time ran out in getting the application submitted.
Supervisor Craig Seliskar said it would be good for a stronger LRIP grant to have letters of support from residents on Garden Lake about any incidents or mishaps having occurred due to the road conditions. Also, the number of people affected would make for a stronger grant.
Transfer site attendant Dean Barrett asked if the brush pile had been burned as he had not worked the site recently. Seliskar said it would be burned soon.
Barrett said he started up the snowblower and noticed a pin was sheared off. Other than that, he said Doug Schiebe and Todd Garvey have worked out their schedule and doing well. Seliskar said he ordered more bags for the transfer site.
In supervisor reports, Seliskar suggested Casey Peterson be added to the township’s contractors list.
Seliskar said he had taken the Board of Appeal and Equalization training.
Supervisor Adam Masloski said an upcoming meeting on the community center would include Bollig Engineering and Lake County commissioners. He said he had submitted the latest bill from Bollig to Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation and it was approved.
Supervisor Eric Hart attended the ambulance board meeting. He said a bill would be coming from the City of Ely, but Fall Lake should hold off in paying the bill until the second half payment for Fall Lake’s ambulance service comes from Lake County.
Clerk Cheri DeBeltz said Hart’s and Masloski’s supervisor positions would be up for reelection in March. Hart’s position is for a threeyear term and Masloski’s for a one-year term. Filing to run for either of these supervisor positions will open December 30 through January 13.
