The Ely Folk School announce the completion of a major renovation to its kitchen classroom.
After 10 years of growth and innovation, the Folk School invested in its facilities to create a more functional, modern and welcoming space for learning and gathering.
Since its construction in 2017, the kitchen has been the heart of countless classes, potlucks and community gatherings. While it has served the non-profit well, the kitchen needed updating.
The new design, spearheaded by architect and EFS board member Steve Klar:
• Expands capacity and storage
• Improves layout and traffic flow
• Provides updated equipment and a fresh, inviting look
• Doubling classroom capacity and tripling kitchen space and appliances The project was guided by three goals: • Enhance the instructor experience
• Enhance the student experience
• Ensure the facility reflects the quality of our programs The new classroom was unveiled on Thanksgiving with about 150 community members participating over the course of two Thanksgiving potlucks.
Since installing the original kitchen in 2017, the Ely Folk School has hosted a Thanksgiving potluck, offering the community an opportunity to spend the day with good food and each other.
“We invite you to support this exciting project by contributing to our kitchen registry or making a direct donation,” said executive director Lucy Soderstrom.
“Together, we can create a space that strengthens intergenerational, non-competitive, learning for life. See you at the Ely Folk School soon!”
