Ely Community Center winners of Holiday Lights Contest

The first-ever Ely Community Center Holiday Lights Contest was held this year with winners announced Thursday night.

The winners were: Holiday Spirit: 20 E. Wilson St. Blow-Up Bonanza: 730 E. Pattison St.

Mega-Watt Masterpiece: 945 E. James St.

Little Elves’ Pick: 231 S. 10th Ave. E.

Storybook Scene: 116 S. 15th Ave. E.

“When we launched this contest, we weren’t sure how many homes would participate. What we did know was that Ely has a lot of creativity, heart, and holiday spirit - and you proved that right away,” said event coordinator Tara Boerst.

“I want to sincerely thank every household that entered. By decorating your homes, you didn’t just take part in a contest — you helped light up our town.”

Boerst said the voting was “incredible close” for a first-year contest.

“If you’ve been driving around Ely these past weeks, you’ve seen how much brighter the season feels. The lights gave families a reason to bundle up, grab some cocoa, turn on holiday music, and enjoy a slow drive through town during this busy winter season.

“Whether your house is receiving a sign tonight or not, please know this: you helped make Ely shine extra bright this season — and that’s something we can all be proud of.”
