At the Ely Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. the program will be Get Crafty: Valentine Gnomes for adults and older teens. Traditionally they are seen among winter decorations, but not anymore. Instead, they can add a touch of whimsy to any décor or occasion at any time of the year. This program is for adults and older teens. Registration is required.
At the Ely Public Library from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5 drop off books for the Friends of the Library Booksale at the Ely Community Center (the old Senior Center). The Friends will gratefully accept books, puzzles, board games, CDs and DVDs in gently used condition. Not accepted: magazines, textbooks, encyclopedias, or Reader’s Digest Condensed Books. A representative of Friends of the Library must be present to accept donations.
At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. the program will be Armchair Travel: El Camino de Santiago with Sarah Guy Levar. Listen to other local people who have had some fantastic trips and experience the world through their eyes. This month, hear from Sarah Guy Levar who recently walked El Camino de Santiago – a 485 mile pilgrimage trail. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
The 33rd Ely Winter Festival’s 10 days of celebrating winter begins Thursday, Feb. 5 and runs through Feb. 15 and packs a season’s worth of fun and activities in less than two weeks.
The Friends of the Library Booksale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at the Ely Community Center (the old Senior Center). Buy a book bag for $10 and fill it with books for free. Proceeds help support the Friends of the Library. If you wear your Ely Winter Festival Pin, you pay on $8 for your bag. On Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bring your own bag and fill it up for free. Any monetary donations accepted to support the Friends of the Library.
The Integrated Wellness Expo will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tower Civic Center. Sessions start at 10 a.m. Admission is $5.
Ely Igloo Snowmobile Club snowmobile safety class will be held at Vermilion College on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Contact Dave Marshall at 218-343-1711. The online class must be competed.
