Kim Maki announced her candidacy for a second term as St. Louis County Attorney, pledging to continue her steadfast commitment to preserving and defending the rule of law, prosecuting crime without fear or favor, protecting vulnerable citizens, and providing sound legal counsel to county government.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of St. Louis County,” said Maki. “Over the past four years, our office has worked every day to uphold the rule of law with integrity and fairness. I am running for reelection to ensure that this work continues, guided not by politics or pressure, but by what is right under the law in every circumstance.”
During her first term, Maki prioritized the prosecution of violent crime, strengthened partnerships with law enforcement, and reinforced a victim-centered approach that ensures those harmed by crime are treated with dignity and respect.
Protecting vulnerable citizens has also remained central to Maki’s work. She has strengthened collaboration with social services, advocacy organizations, and community partners to ensure that those at greatest risk receive protection and meaningful support.
Further, the county attorney’s office serves as legal counsel to St. Louis County government. Maki emphasized the importance of providing knowledgeable, diligent and legally sound representation to county officials to ensure responsible governance and stewardship of taxpayer resources.
Notable accomplishments during Maki’s first term include a revamp of the juvenile diversion program to better support youth accountability and rehabilitation, improvement of the county’s process for data practices requests to ensure timely and complete responses, and expansion of the office’s community outreach efforts to provide clear, accurate information about the office’s work and services.
As she seeks a second term, Maki reaffirmed her commitment to steady, principled leadership.
“Our citizens deserve leadership that is fair, transparent, and accountable,” Maki said. “I am asking for the opportunity to continue serving St. Louis County to preserve the rule of law, pursue justice without bias, protect those who need it most, and ensure our county government operates with efficiency, professionalism, and integrity.”
