At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, July 21 at 11 a.m. the program will be Wolf Pup 101 with the International Wolf Center. Ever wondered what it’s like to grow up as a wolf? Step into the shoes of International Wolf Center’s staff and follow our ambassador wolves through their first year of life. You will learn all about the stages of pup development and what it takes to raise wolves here at the International Wolf Center. This program is in cooperation with the International Wolf Center.
At the Ely Public Library on Wednesday, July 22 at 11 a.m. the program will be Hey, It’s a Holiday: Family Golf Month – geared towards age five and older. Make your own do-it-yourself golf course. Create your own obstacles. Play a round of mini-golf. Please pre-register. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
Ely Braver Angels Alliance will be holding its Summer Social on July 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Samz Place.
Lake Vermilion Cultural Center (LVCC) will host two art classes. On July 23 at 2 p.m., instructor and artist Diana Magner will lead a dotting class for school-age kids at the Vermilion Park Inn classroom at 30 Center Street in Soudan. Tickets for the kids’ class are $10 and must be purchased in advance on the LVCC website or their Facebook page. Class limited to 15 students. At 6:30 p.m., Magner is offering an additional mandala class titled “Mandalas and Margaritas” for adults and older youth. Tickets for up to 20 adults must be purchased in advance and are $40.
The Ely Chamber of Commerce presented the Ely Blueberry/ Art Festival July 24-26 in Whiteside Park.
The public is invited to a public screening of God and Country, a documentary produced by Michele and Rob Reiner that explores the relationship between faith, politics and democracy in the United States on Thursday, July 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ely Community Center. Following the film, participants will be invited to engage in a civil discussion grounded in mutual respect, curiosity and a commitment to understanding one another. Hosted by Ely Indivisible.
Ely’s Second Annual National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4-8 p.m. at Whiteside Park for an evening of free family fun, community connections and plenty of Northwoods smiles. National Night Out is all about strengthening the connection between law enforcement and the community they proudly serve.
Ely Watercolor Club had the change the date of the show to Aug. 20-23. The club will again present paintings and greeting cards this summer at Ely’s Miner’s Dry building from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
