Following the cancellation of Ely's beloved Blueberry Art Festival due to the ongoing wildfires, a dedicated group of organizers and community members has come together to create a new opportunity for artists, vendors, and visitors.
The Birch Landing Art Fair will take place Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to host the event in Babbitt's Central Park.
For decades, Ely's Blueberry Art Festival has drawn more than 250 artists and vendors from across the region. While this year's cancellation is a significant loss for the community, Birch Landing Art Fair hopes to provide a welcoming gathering place featuring artisans, food trucks, and other attractions.
"Out of an unexpected change comes something new! We're excited to announce a new art fair taking shape in Babbitt on July 25 & 26. While this event has come together quickly, we're looking forward to creating a place where artists, makers, and the community can gather and celebrate creativity."
Organizers encourage the public to follow Birch Landing Art Fair on Facebook for event updates, vendor information, entertainment announcements, and additional details as plans continue to come together.
The Birch Landing Art Fair aims to celebrate local creativity while supporting artists and small businesses affected by the cancellation of one of northern Minnesota's signature summer events.
