Organizers are hoping for a drama-free Harvest Moon weekend.
After wildfires prompted the cancellation of the first major festival of the year in Ely, all systems are “go” heading into the start of the 32nd Harvest Moon Festival.
The event was set to begin Friday at Whiteside Park and run through the weekend.
Hopes are high for a busy, festive weekend with good weather and the avoidance of any obstacles that could put the event in jeopardy.
While nowhere near as large as the July Blueberry/ Art Festival, the Harvest Moon brings approximately 120 vendors to Whiteside Park.
Many are returning vendors and some were scheduled to be at the Blueberry/ Art event.
Vendors sell an assortment of goods, ranging from paintings to photography, clothing to cabin items, jewelry, leather works and knives and much more.
Festival-goers may also sample a wide assortment of cuisine for the three-day event and have some new options at the popular food court on the west side of the park.
Festival hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Friday, and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Sunday. Food vendors will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the opening two days and run concurrent with festival hours on Sunday.
