Clubhouse, a program of Well Being Development (WBD) moved into its forever home, The Northern Lights House, at 248 N 3rd Ave E., Ely, in November.
WBD is a community-based nonprofit acting as a hub of behavioral health education and resources that empowers people to be well.
Our Clubhouse is a place of belonging and wellness for those that live with the challenges of chronic mental illness and addiction.
Our Recovery Residence will be ready for residents in early 2025,” said executive director Kap Wilkes. “Special thanks to Peggy York-Jesme and John Jesme for trusting us to make a difference in the Ely area community.
“Many thanks to all of the Ely community members, partners, and friends of our Clubhouse and our new Recovery Residence who have been supportive. Many people and agencies have invested in our mission and the belief that recovery is possible.
“We have received over $70,000 in contributions and $250,000 in grants in 2024. Over the past year we have had over 50 volunteers helping with our programs, fundraisers, and the extra efforts of moving. Clubhouse is already up and running in our new location. We are expecting to be ready to have our first residents move in by the end of February 2025.”
An open house will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 from 4:30-7 p.m. with a celebration program and ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. A light meal of soup will be available.
“As a community-based nonprofit, we always appreciate contributions to our work. Your financial support makes a difference by helping us provide meaningful and effective programming and make energy improvements to our facility,” said Wilkes. “Any size contributions are appreciated, www. givebutter.com/wbdrecovery.”
