The Minnesota Department of Transportation has begun tree clearing operations on Highway 1 between Ely and Isabella.
Crews will be working at both ends of the project and moving towards Lake County Road 2.
This project is expected to last through April 15 and resume in the fall. Trees are being removed to prevent ice buildup in shaded areas and provide for increased safety and sight distance for the traveling public.
Motorists should expect lane closures with portable signals and flagging operations.
