Ely Area Recycling Center

NOTICE
The Ely Area Recycling Center will be temporarily closed starting Thursday, November 14th for the construction of the new entrance to the Trailhead Facility. This work is anticipated to last until Friday, November 22. During this time the recycle center will be completely closed and recycling and brush or mulch will not be accepted. During this time you are encouraged to utilize the transfer site on highway 21 if you need to recycle. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

School Board Meeting Minutes

1.0 The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik.
2.0 On roll call the following directors were present: Colarich, Mann, Marsnik, Omerza. Absent: Pointer, Sjoberg. Also present: Kevin Abrahamson, Superintendent; Keith Vandervort, Ely Timberjay, Tom Coombe, Ely Echo, Erik Erie, Megan Anderson, Anne Oelke, Tim Leeson.

4.0 Moved by Mann, seconded by Colarich, to amend the agenda to add Matthew Koch as a volunteer football coach. Motion carried. (Vote: 4-0)

Special Meeting of the School Board

1.0 The special meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 6:25 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik.
2.0 On roll call the following directors were present: Colarich, Mann, Marsnik, Omerza, Pointer, Sjoberg. Also present: Kevin Abrahamson, Superintendent, Erik Erie, Megan Anderson, Anne Oelke.
3.0 Moved by Colarich, seconded by Sjoberg, to approve Spencer Aune to be responsible and accountable for overseeing the nonaudit services performed by Walker, Giroux & Hahne, LLC. Motion carried. (Vote: 6-0)
4.0 Moved by Omerza, seconded by Colarich, to certify the preliminary proposed 19 payable 20 levy to the maximum amount. Motion carried. (Vote: 6-0)
5.0 Moved by Mann, seconded by Sjoberg, to approve Superintendent’s contract for 2019-2021. Motion carried. (Vote: 6-0)
6.0 Moved by Omerza, seconded by Sjoberg, to approve repair of the gym ceiling in the amount of $63,000. Motion carried. (Vote: 6-0)

NOTICE OF VACANCY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The St. Louis County Board of Commissioners will make seven appointments, One (1) St. Louis County Association of Townships, One (1) Southern Townships representative, One (1) City of Eveleth representative, One (1) City of Hermantown representative and Three (3) At-Large representatives, to the St. Louis County CDBG Citizen Advisory Committee with terms expiring April 30, 2022. The CDBG program provides funds for community facilities, public infrastructure, economic development, housing activities, and public service activities.

The CDBG Advisory Committee holds one public hearing and three public meetings to review applications and provide funding recommendations. Meetings are typically held in January between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CDBG Citizen Advisory Committee members are paid $50 per diem and mileage at the current county rate.
