NLAA will host four camps this summer

Northern Lakes Arts Association (NLAA) announced overwhelming demand for its 2025 Youth Summer Art Experiences, with only a handful of spots remaining across all four camps.

These popular programs, tailored to youth of varying ages and artistic interests, are designed to nurture creativity, confidence, and self-expression— and they’re filling faster than ever before.

“This response from families is incredible,” said Ian Francis Lah, executive artistic director of NLAA. “It’s a sign of how deeply our community values the arts - and how much young people are hungry for experiences that challenge, uplift, and connect them.”

Each camp is led by professional artists and educators and offers a supportive environment where students of all experience levels can explore their talents.

The four programs include:

• Greenstone Art Camp (Grades 1–6): June 3–5, 9 a.m. - noon. Tuition: $75, 19 spots left. A joyful, hands-on experience exploring painting, weaving, and creative play.

• Greenstone Art Workshop (Grades 6–12): June 2–5, 1-5 p.m. Tuition: $100, one spot left. A nature-inspired intensive drawing from the work of artist Andy Goldsworthy, with outdoor installation projects and land-based art.

• NLAA Theater Camp (Ages 8–18): June 23–July 5, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuition: $200, five spots left. A dynamic two-week rehearsal and performance camp culminating in a full production of 13: The Musical JR.

• Stars of the North: Broadway Workshop (Ages 8–18): July 21–Aug. 2, 9 a.m. - noon. Tuition: $200, nine spots left. Elite musical theater training with Broadway in the Boundary Waters professionals in acting, voice, and movement.

Scholarships are available for all programs to ensure cost is never a barrier to participation.

“Our mission is to make the arts accessible to every child,” said Lah. “If families are unsure whether they can afford to attend, we encourage them to apply. We’ll work with them.”

With limited space and high demand, early registration is strongly recommended. Families can learn more and register at www. northernlakesarts.org.

These programs are made possible thanks to support from the Donald G. Gardner Humanities Trust, Minnesota Power, and Angel and Jeff Carradus.
