Life Experience Discovery Reflection Sharing Understanding Meaning Reality

So much happens in a day or a week. Each interaction can start a train of thoughts and memories that build.

On Tuesday while walking south on Third Avenue toward a morning meeting on James Street, a deer was noticed standing in the street two blocks ahead. Based on its size, shape, long legs, and color, it had to be a deer. It’s not unusual to see deer in town.

There was a person with a bicycle and a dog standing at that corner and the deer walked over near them. They walked away from the deer – out of sight – and while continuing to walk in that direction, a truck was noticed stopped on the avenue. The driver was observing the deer but then pulled ahead and turned east.

Arriving at the sidewalk intersection, the deer was seen again. While it browsed on the hedge at that corner lot, the truck that had gone around the block and was stopped across the street. There was a conversation going on with the person who had the bicycle and the dog.

The deer looked at me, walked across the front yard toward me, and stuck out its tongue as it passed me into the intersection. The person walking their bicycle and dog crosses the avenue and continued east down the sidewalk on James Street.

The deer that passed me crossed the intersection to the other side of James Street and followed closely behind the walkers for almost the entire next block before entering another yard.

Why was the deer so comfortable and relaxed amongst people in the city? Is it due to familiarity?

What meanings do the senses and brains of animals process in their lives? How does that compare with what we think they think?

In addition to our individual experiences, thoughts, impressions, we are so enriched by those we learn from others. Thank you for the past week: ~ The discoveries about animals a six-yearold shared.
