At the Ely Public Library on Monday, July 14 at 3 p.m. will be a Friends of the Library Book Discussion. The book for discussion this month is Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. You do not need to be a member of Friends of the Library to attend.

At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, July 15 at 11 a.m. – Kids for Kids Concert – for all ages. Come hear a small group performance of some of the students that are taking part in this year’s Northern Lights Music Festival. This is a great free opportunity to hear some very talented young musicians. This program is presented in cooperation with the Northern Lights Music Festival.

The 45th annual Ely Watercolor Club Show and Sale will be held Wednesday, July 16 to Sunday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Miners Dry at the Pioneer Mine.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, July 17 at 2 p.m. –

Library Scientists: Bridges – for kids in grades 4-6. What is the best way to build a bridge? Why do some bridges (like the Golden Gate Bridge) have cables or other supports above the deck? Find out the answers to these questions and more plus create a bridge of your own! Please register in advance so that there are enough supplies for everyone. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

The July meeting of the Ely P.E.O., Chapter FD will be held on July 17 at The Ely Folk School. Social time will start at 6:30 p.m. with a program to follow. Visitors from other chapters are welcome to attend.

At the Ely Public Library on Friday, July 18 at 2 p.m. –

Preschool Beach Party – preschool ages accompanied by an adult. Little kids are invited to play beach related games, hear beach stories, and listen to fun music. No worries for those who might be afraid of water! This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Hay Days at the Nelimark Museum, across from Timber Hall, on Hwy. 21 and 4839 Salo Rd. Embarrass July 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore the early days and lost arts of the pioneer settlers of Embarrass. Take a walking tour of the museum grounds, Visit the petting zoo with local animals. Craft and homemaking demonstrations. There will be a food truck, free coffee and live music.

The annual Blueberry Bazaar will be held July 25–26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ely Community Center. Over 18 vendors, handmade goods, free admission, air-conditioned shopping during Blueberry/Art Festival weekend.

Sisu Heritage will host the Mattson Family Singers in concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5103 Hwy 21 in Embarrass. These six siblings grew up in Embarrass and will share stories about that experience, along with the old-time music they learned while growing up. Admission is $10, $8 for Sisu members and children under 12 are free.

Everyone is welcome to play MahJong at the Ely Community Center on Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.
