Sisu Heritage will host the Mattson Family Singers in concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5103 Hwy 21 in Embarrass. These six siblings grew up in Embarrass and will share stories about that experience, along with the old-time music they learned while growing up. Admission is $10, $8 for Sisu members and children under 12 are free.

At the Ely Public Library on Monday, July 28 at noon the program is Get Crafty: Paint by Number for Adults – for adults. Painting by numbers is an easy way to create a beautiful work of art, even if you don’t have any painting skills. All supplies are provided; registration is required. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. the program will be Move and Groove - for preschoolers with an adult. Get some of those wiggles out to the dance beat as Jessie leads kids in simple dances and stretches. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, July 31 at 3:30 pm – Science Museum: Dinosaurs – geared towards kids ages 5-8 but open to all. Find out what fossils teach us about dinosaurs with the Science Museum of Minnesota! Children and families will learn how scientists compare the physical features left behind by dinosaurs in fossils to animals we know today. They’ll uncover fossils from the past and assemble a life-size dinosaur skeleton puzzle in this interactive and engaging event! This program is sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System.

Everyone is welcome to play MahJong at the Ely Community Center on Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.

Ely’s first National Night Out event will be August 5, from 4-8 p.m. in Whiteside Park. There will be multiple law enforcement agencies, fire and EMS, bounce houses, a dunk tank, face painting, games and much more.

The Ely Watercross will celebrate its 20th year Aug. 8-10 at the Longbranch in Winton. The event will feature snowmobiles racing on Fall Lake and a concert Saturday night with Ransom and Pop Rocks.

The 10th annual Ride, Raffle ‘N Roll for ALS will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, starting at the Timber Hall Event Center in Embarrass. Pancake breakfast available for purchase and open to the public 8-10 a.m. Ride registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Never Surrender Inc. through the 2026 Black Woods Blizzard Tour.
