Northern Lakes Arts Association (NLAA) is closing an extraordinary summer season with the Broadway & the Boundary Waters Gala, a two-night concert event that celebrates community, creativity, and the power of live performance. Performances will be held Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Vermilion Fine Arts Theater.
This evening brings together the professional 2025 Broadway in the Boundary Waters cast with young performers from across the Iron Range for an unforgettable night of music, mentorship, and showstopping Broadway hits.
Audiences can expect a vibrant lineup that spans beloved classics and modern favorites. Highlights include: • Magic to Do from Pippin (adult ensemble)
• Seize the Day from Newsies (youth ensemble)
• You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray (adult ensemble)
• Defying Gravity from Wicked (Steph Lyons)
• One Day More from Les Misérables (full cast) “This concert is more than a performance. It is a celebration of everything Ely has experienced on stage and off this summer,” said Ian Lah, executive artistic director of NLAA. “From the free concerts in Whiteside Park to the standing ovations in the theater, we have seen how the arts can bring people together. The Gala honors that shared joy and the incredible people who made it possible.”
The Broadway & the Boundary Waters Gala serves as the finale to NLAA’s 2025 summer season, which featured professional productions, free outdoor concerts, and youth programming that brought hundreds of people into the theater and the community.
