The newly renovated Ely Community Center is ready to welcome the public to its grand reopening celebration on Aug. 22, from 4-8 p.m.
The open house-style event will showcase the newly revamped spaces, including the main hall, meeting room, and commercial kitchen, and offer community members the chance to explore how the space can be used for events and gatherings.
Ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Free appetizers and punch will be served, and remarks will begin at 5 p.m., followed by live music from the Chickadee Dee Dees at 5:30 p.m. A slideshow of the building’s transformation will also be on display.
“This renovation has been a labor of love, and we are thrilled to share it with the community,” said Rosemary Wickman, president of Ely Community Center. “We can’t wait to show everyone how the new spaces can be used for everything from meetings to community celebrations. It’s a place for everyone.”
The renovation of the Ely Community Center was made possible by the generous support of local organizations, including a donation from Twin Metals Minnesota, which completely funded the new roof for the building. This contribution played a crucial role in the overall renovation project and ensures that the center can continue serving the community for years to come.
“We are incredibly grateful to Twin Metals for their support in helping us bring this project to life,” said Wickman. “Their commitment to improving our community is inspiring, and this event will give us the opportunity to publicly thank them for their incredible generosity.”
The Ely Community Center is located at 27 S. 1st Ave. E. All are welcome to attend this free event. For more information, please visit www. elycommunitycenter.com or our Facebook page.
