Wolf.Report, a groundbreaking community science website, is giving Minnesota hunters and outdoor enthusiasts the power to share their firsthand wolf sightings through trail camera photos and location data. Now in its second year, the project is busier than ever, collecting reports statewide and providing a clear, hunter-driven picture of the gray wolf population in Minnesota.
“The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association has been instrumental in getting this project off the ground,” said Jim Cochran, creator of Wolf.Report. “Without their financial backing, this type of initiative to push for reasonable wolf management would not be possible.”
The mission of Wolf.Report is simple: allow hunters and citizens across Minnesota to provide firsthand proof that the gray wolf population has more than recovered. With hundreds of reports flowing in, the platform highlights the need for balanced and responsible wolf management led by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and hunters.
By leveraging the power of the hunting community, Wolf.Report helps ensure that on-the-ground experiences are represented in the broader conversation about conservation and management.
Hunters, landowners, and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to participate by submitting their own wolf sightings or browsing the growing collection of reports. Each entry includes location details and photo evidence, painting a vivid picture of wolf activity across the state.
