Coming off a 3-0 loss to Ely Tuesday, the Chisholm High School volleyball team needed to take out their frustrations on someone.
The Bluestreaks did just that Sept. 11, using a strong serving game en route to a 3-0, 25-7, 25-13, 25-10 victory over Northeast Range on Bob McDonald Court in Roels Gymnasium.
According to Chisholm coach Pam Pioske, that loss to the Timberwolves had a lot to do with her teams’ performance against the Nighthawks.
“They were pretty upset with how they played against Ely,” Pioske said. “We had a really bad game. It wasn’t just one player. It was multiple players. After that night, they were pretty disappointed.
“They don’t want to have another game like that, ever again. That’s what they’re saying.”
That was evident from the first set on as the Bluejackets won the game one handily.
“Coming out strong in that first set, they did what they needed to do,” Pioske said. “At the start of that second set, we looked just like we did in Ely but they pulled it together. They started doing better at what they needed to do.
The key to each win was the Bluestreaks’ serving.
“We had to make sure we kept our serves in, and we were hitting the spots we were supposed to serve to,” Pioske said. “A couple of the girls did a great job hitting the zones they were supposed to hit.
Northeast Range had trouble with serve receive.
“They were great servers,” Northeast Range coach Misty Roseth said. “They spot serve. They float serve. We’re struggling. We need to learn how to serve receive. Our team is young, and they’ve never played together.
“We’re inexperienced. They’re scrappy, and they give us some awesome stuff, but we need to kill the ball, pass and serve receive. We need to work on that every single hour in our next practices.”
