At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. the program will be Get Crafty for Kids: Pumpkin Painting – for ages three and up. Use library supplies to paint and decorate a mini pumpkin to get in the spooky spirit. Paint your favorite monsters, characters, quotes, sugar skulls, or even just a cool design. Young children will need to be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 3:15 p.m. the program will be Library Scientists: Three Little Pigs Science – geared toward grades one to three. Learn about the science of building out of different materials with Jessie. Try designs of different materials and then see if your structure can withstand the force of the wolf’s breath (supplied by a fan). Pre-register so there are enough supplies for everyone. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Taste, vote, and crown Ely’s best soup at the first-ever Golden Ladle Soup Contest on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ely Community Center. Local restaurants will compete ladle-to-ladle as the community tastes, votes, and crowns Ely’s top soup. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids (ages 6–12), free for children under 5, with a $20 family maximum include soup samples, bread, dessert, and drinks - or get in free when you buy a handmade pottery bowl. The event is sponsored by the Ely Community Center and the Ely Folk School.

At the Ely Public Library on Friday, Oct. 24 at 3:15 p.m. there will be A Halloween Movie Double Feature – G rating. Get some shivers with two classic horror movies –

Frankenstein and The Creature from the Black Lagoon! This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Northern Tier High Adventure Base is having a 2025 Haunted Walk on Oct. 25 from 1-7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, children three and under free.

The fall gathering of the 100 Ely Women Who Care will be held at the Ely Community Center on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. As usual it will be a pot luck of appetizers and desserts, it usually wraps up at about 5:30 p.m. 100 EWWC is a giving circle based in Ely that nominates and then votes on a local non- profit to donate to twice each year. Over $80,000 have been donated over the years. For more information call Cindy Gardner at 651-303-1094.

The Ely Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Trunk or Treat event at Whiteside Park from 4:30-6 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Everyone is welcome to play MahJong at the Ely Community Center on Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.

Bingo every Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Ely Community Center. All are welcome, bring your friends for a fun afternoon.

Cribbage is being played at the Zenith Apartments at 965 E. Camp St in Ely on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Join in, have fun. Bring your own snacks.

Northwoods Partners Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Ely Area Community Hub, 760 E. Miners Drive.
