Winter Frolic back at HS with usual activities

It’s Winter Frolic Week at Ely High School and a slew of activities are in store.

The annual mid-winter, midschool year event has many of its traditional events including royalty, pep fests, dress-up days and more.

Royalty candidates were announced Friday, after deadline and the festivities will ramp up this week with activities each day.

Student dress-up days take place all week with the following themes: Hunting, Camo and Blaze Orange (Tuesday), Class Colors (Wednesday), 80s/Neon (Thursday) and Extreme Red and White (Friday).

This year’s king and queen will be crowned during a pep rally on Wednesday, and that night the junior and senior boys will square off in a volleyball game in the high school gymnasium.

Home athletic events include both boys and girls basketball games on Monday, Friday’s home boys basketball matchup against Littlefork-Big Falls, and the lone home ski meet of the year slated for Saturday.

The week will be capped off that Saturday by the semi-formal Winter Frolic Dance, set for 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium.
