Two local townships will have contested races for town board positions.
That’s the aftermath of a two-week filing period for upcoming elections in Morse and Fall Lake townships.
Longtime Morse town supervisor Bob Berrini faces a challenge in his re-election bid while in Fall Lake, two incumbents did not file.
Morse residents will choose between Berrini and O’Niell Tedrow, an instructor at Vermilion Community College. The winner gains a three-year term on the board and will join holdovers Mike Velcheff and Terry Soderberg.
Berrini has spent nearly 30 years in office.
In Fall Lake, incumbent Eric Hart did not file for re-election and there are three contenders for a threeyear term on the board - Bryan Seliskar, Rod Gruba and Hudson Kingston.
Fall Lake supervisor Adam Masloski, a previous appointee to the town board, will not run for the remaining year on the term he was appointed to, and Roger Murawski filed for that seat.
Township elections coincide with annual meetings on Tuesday, March 10.
The meetings are convened after polls close in each township and give residents the chance to decide numerous issues, including their respective township property tax levy for the ensuing year.
