St. Louis County Sheriff Gordon Ramsay announced that he is seeking re-election, citing a year of progress focused on drug reduction, employee wellness, improving pay and retention, and steady leadership during major emergencies.
“Serving the people of St. Louis County is an honor, and I’m proud of the work our team has done to strengthen public safety and support the employees who do this job every day,” Ramsay said. “I’m running for re-election to keep building on that momentum.”
Over the past three years, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized targeted strategies to address the drug crisis and strengthen enforcement efforts. Using opioid settlement dollars, the Sheriff’s Office added two deputies to the drug task force to increase capacity for investigations and to disrupt drug trafficking and distribution throughout the county. Opiate overdose deaths are at a six year low.
Ramsay also noted that supporting employees has been a top priority. The Sheriff’s Office has increased its focus on employee wellness and has worked to improve pay and retention to strengthen recruitment, reduce turnover, and maintain consistent public safety service across St. Louis County.
Ramsay highlighted the importance of experienced leadership during emergencies, noting that St. Louis County has faced some of the most challenging wildfire conditions in decades.
“When our communities were dealing with the most serious fires many of us have seen in a generation, we led with a steady hand,” Ramsay said. “Experience matters when conditions are changing by the hour and the stakes are high.”
Ramsay said that, if re-elected, he will remain focused on practical public safety priorities: reducing the impact of illegal drugs, supporting a healthy and effective workforce, and ensuring the Sheriff’s Office provides professional, responsive service to residents across the entire county.
