The Rotary Club of Ely will match community donations to the Ely Area Food Shelf up to $2,000 from Feb. 20 to March 25.
The Ely Rotary Club collects cash donated in 31 “Penny J ars” i n b usinesses throughout the Ely area and donates the proceeds to the Ely Area Food Shelf in March every year. This year the total is $7,000.
The donation is made in March because the Food Shelf receives a funding match, every March.
In addition to the Penny Jar donation, this year the Ely Rotary Club will also match community contributions donated to the Ely Area Food Shelf between Feb. 20 to March 25 up to $2,000.
Community donations can be made by sending a check made payable to the Ely Area Food Shelf, 15 West Conan Street, Ely, MN 55731 and listing “Rotary Match” on the memo line.
