ATV Minnesota launches statewide “I Ride” campaign to highlight economic, environmental, and community impact of ATV recreation

ATV Minnesota launches statewide “I Ride” campaign to highlight economic, environmental, and community impact of ATV recreation

As Minnesota’s 2026 Legislative Session begins, ATV Minnesota today announced the launch of a statewide outreach initiative designed to educate policymakers and the public about the economic, environmental, and community benefits of responsible ATV recreation.

The initiative centers around a new video series titled “I Ride,” featuring Minnesota families, veterans, small-business owners, and volunteers who share why ATV riding matters to them — and to the communities they support.

“ATV riders are your neighbors, your constituents, and your local business owners,” said Ron Potter, President of ATV Minnesota. “We want policymakers to hear directly from the people who responsibly use and help maintain Minnesota’s trail system.”

Connecting recreation and economic development

Minnesota’s ATV trail system connects riders to communities across Greater Minnesota, supporting local lodging, restaurants, fuel stations, outfitters, and small businesses.

Trail infrastructure investments often serve dual roles — providing outdoor recreation while strengthening rural economies.

“Responsible ATV recreation is about more than riding,” said Potter.  “It’s about tourism, volunteerism, and thoughtful trail development that benefits entire communities.”

Stewardship and Responsible Development

The campaign also highlights the structured environmental review and planning processes involved in trail development. Minnesota’s ATV trails are developed in coordination with the Department of Natural Resources, local governments, and community stakeholders.

Behind every mile of trail are volunteers who donate thousands of hours annually for maintenance, safety education, and stewardship.

“We are proud of the responsible culture that exists within Minnesota’s ATV community,” said Potter.  “This campaign is about sharing that story.”

Legislative engagement

The “I Ride” video series will be released weekly throughout the first months of the legislative session and distributed through social media, digital platforms, and policy-focused communications outlets.

ATV Minnesota is also engaging manufacturers, dealers, and local clubs to amplify the message statewide.

“Legislative decisions made this session will shape the future of Minnesota’s trail system,” said Ron Potter.  “We welcome constructive conversations with lawmakers about funding stability, environmental sustainability, and responsible access.”

The campaign launches with highlights from the annual ATV Minnesota President’s Ride, showcasing riders from across the state.
