With a history of rotating the chairman position, Mike Velcheff will take his turn at the helm at the Town of Morse.
During the annual reorganizational meeting, the board also approved increasing salaries by four percent and approved an additional $20 per meeting payment for being in attendance physically.
At its regular April meeting the board discussed looking into paving some township roads in 2026. That could include Newgord Drive (near Semers Park) and hills in Romberg Acres.
Morse was notified it was not selected for a MNDOT Local Road Improvement Grant for Romberg Acres.
Morse will hold its annual Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting on May 12 at 9 a.m.
In other business the board:
• Kept pay for election judges at $20 an hour.
• Approved paying mileage at the federal rate.
• Removed Wells Fargo as on the banking options.
• Mileage will continue to be paid at the federal rate.
• Approved an easement with Lake Country Power.
• Will move forward with recommending parcels managed by St. Louis County to be put up for sale.
• Heard from Velcheff there is a hole in a pipe on the South White Iron Road. He said the hole is on the top of the culvert this time. He will keep an eye on it.
• Supervisor Bob Berrini requested that the county board meet at the Morse Town Hall in 2027.
