The Babbitt City Council will conduct interviews with six out of 11 applicants for the city administrative assistant position opening.
At the regular council meeting last Tuesday, the council selected applications from Shonna Childs, Petra Littler, Erica Anderson, Tara Jokela, Michaela Jaeger and Amber Beatty to advance to the first round of interviews.
Sheri Israel was chosen as an alternate in the case that a candidate declines their interview.
Interviews will take place in 15-minute increments at a special meeting early next week, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 28 at 4:30 p.m. This meeting may also feature an interview for the assistant recreation coordinator position.
Clerk-treasurer Kirsten Traut and deputy clerk-treasurer Sara Powell reviewed the job description prior to the city council meeting and suggested amendments to the posting.
Job tasks will now include responsibilities with regards to the city campground, especially in the off-season, and a few other additions.
The position opened in late June. Former city administrative assistant Kirsten Traut was hired to the clerk-treasurer role on June 30 at a special council meeting.
Former clerk-treasurer Nancy Sanford resigned on Monday, June 22, creating the clerk-treasurer opening. Following her resignation, the city opened the position first to internal applicants, as per standard practice for city job postings.
