September for many of my friends and I rinses August’s humidity out of the air in a matter of just a few days, make no mistake about it, we appreciate it.
Geese have gathered back up, young and old alike. Redwing black birds of what seems like spring a few weeks ago are completely gone and there was most certainly a summer, what a summer to be sure, and now, leaves toy with us early on, those first few red maple leaves and it sorta hits us, wow, where did yet another summer go?.
Did we put up enough firewood, a glance here and there at last remaining summer items needing to be put in sheds. I like mowing lawn, but I don’t mind putting the lawn mower away either. Some of my buddies with bagger mowers, they gobble up those fallen leaves with a vengeance, I let Mother Nature handle that for me.
I sit longer in the evenings outside now, you feel what’s gone, look so forward to what’s coming, the same stars all summer seem brighter now with the hastening of the sunsets. Sweatshirts, with no sweat, feel extra comfy. As much as we miss all the summer fun, we can’t wait for this time of year, everything we can think of in autumn and September and fall, makes it much easier to let summer go.
