The Silver Rapids Lodge re-development project will take another step forward on Monday when a public hearing is held at 5 p.m.
Lake County Planning and Zoning will hold a public hearing for project’s conditional use permit on Monday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. at the Two Harbors Law Enforcement Center.
The hearing will be livestreamed at the Fall Lake Town Hall.
The conditional use filed by Silver Rapids Resort would allow for redevelopment and expansion of the existing Silver Rapids Lodge that will add 44 new fractional share cabins, remodel the existing seven cabins and motel, and add a new main lodge facility with bar/restaurant and resort amenities.
A request will also be considered to plat land that would allow the conversion of the existing Silver Rapids resort to a commercial Planned Unit Development.
The Lake County Planning Commission previously gave the reinvented development proposal a preliminary stamp of approval, recommending no need for more intensive environmental review.
Developers stated in the EAW they hope to begin sitework this fall, pending project approvals.
Silver Rapids Lodge elected to undergo the environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) process for their new plan.
The new proposal scales down the resort’s initial plan from 49 fractional share cabins to 44, and 75 proposed moorings to 33. Silver Rapids no longer plans to install a Tiki bar.
Developers will also remove two underground tanks that had caused concerns.
