The Town of Morse met on Sept. 8 to handle routine monthly business.
Clerk Nick Wognum went over the request for a letter of support for Treehouse Broadband for a grant application to the IRRRB to extend services on Burntside Lake.
The board passed a motion in favor of the project.
Supervisor Terry Soderberg said he spoke with Casey Fenske about trimming trees around the town hall.
The Somero Road beaver problem was discussed. Steven’s Animal Control Services has been contracted to remove the beavers. The water is flowing and there has been no indications of attempted plugging.
Board chair Mike Velcheff said the county now wants 25 feet wide for clearance for plowing township roads. The county will provide a list of the roads where there are concerns.
In other business the board:
• Approved the hiring of Mary Wognum as a deputy treasurer.
• Noted there will be a Lodging Tax Board meeting at the Morse town hall on Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. and an ambulance meeting at 3:15 p.m.
• Voted to send a letter to St. Louis County on the rules regarding short term rentals in regard to only have lake water and abstracts that don’t allow commercial use.
