The third candidate forum sponsored by the Ely branch of AAUW and Ely Rotary will take place Wednesday, Sept. 30, this time for ISD 696 school board candidates.
The event will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. in the theater of Minnesota North College’s Vermilion campus. The public is welcome to attend.
Six candidates will vie for three open seats. Incumbent Jennifer Westlund will run for re-election against challengers Steve Hornstein, John Kannas, Derekah Kingery, Bailey McLinn-Belehar and Joe Weise.
Members of the public may also view a video recording of the forum on Youtube or local cable access channel 98. The film will be titled “Ely MN School Board Candidate Forum 2026.”
