Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friends of the Babbitt Library Harvest Festival in the Municipal Gym. Stop in, enjoy some lunch, and do some shopping At the Babbitt Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. the program will be “ Writing in Haiku.” Grow your skills in this writing workshop. Writer’s will learn the structure and form of haiku, its origins in Japanese literature, and how Sandra connects this writing practice to MM Northwoods. Writers will use words and art to create their own haiku masterpiece to take home. This program is one hour long, and suited for adults, teens, and children ages 10 and up. This project is funded with money from MN Art’s and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Designer Handbag Bingo for ALS will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. at Tavern in the Bay on Lake Vermilion. Registration begins at noon with 10 bingo games for $50. Advance registration recommended. Call or text Travis at 218-780-8944 to reserve your spot. Must be at least 18 years of age to participate. This event is organized by Full Throttle Fundraising with proceeds benefiting Never Surrender Inc through the 2027 Black Woods Blizzard Tour.

Babbitt Lions Club would like to notify the people of Babbitt that anyone in need of medical equipment, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, hospital beds and much more. The club does loan out such equipment to Babbitt citizens and will take it back when done with it. There is never a charge for this service. The city Recreation Department is sponsoring some “ Howl-O-Ween Fun” on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. at the outdoor rink/dog park. Capture fun moments with your pet at a photo booth to remember the day. Dress up in your best Howl-O-Ween costimes alongside your pet and join the parade to show off your costumes in the contest for all to enjoy. Trophies and dog treats will be available.

The Babbitt veterans resale room will be accepting gently used items Saturday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon in the back of the Municipal Building in Babbitt at 71 South Drive. Come check out vintage items for sale. Resale room has lots of holiday decorations.
