At its annual membership meeting, the Babbitt Golf Association awarded a life membership to Don Negley in recognition of his contributions to the golf course.
Throughout the years, Negley has provided hundreds of volunteer hours of equipment and his work crew from Negley Properties to assist the course in completing much needed projects that they otherwise would have had to hire out. His volunteer participation has saved the BGA thousands of dollars that has enabled the course to keep operating at a high level.
He is also serving as a consultant on a committee that is working on a project to build a much needed new clubhouse. Negley is only the 11th individual to be honored with a life membership in the 63 year history of the course. The first life membership was presented in 1969 to Dr. Donald Haase, followed by Ed Furness, Ernie Pinela, Bucky Backman, Merle Rauvola, Sula Nuorala, Walt Vojacek, Merle Vandervest, Jim Lassi and Joan Youngman.
The Babbitt Golf Association wishes to offer a sincere thanks to Don Negley for all he has done for the course.
